Step one :  

Duplicate the Background Layer to Layer one by pressing CTRL+J.

Step two :  

Press CTRL+SHIFT+I. it'll desaturate Layer one.

Step five : 

Head to Select>Modify Border>Feather.

Step seven : 

Click the Layer Mask button. A layer Mask forms on Layer1.

The image seems like this -- 0.5 color, 0.5 B&W with no harsh demarcation between the 2.

Step eight : 

CTRL+CLICK the Layer Mask.

The selection reappears.

Step nine : 

Click the produce New Fill or Adjustment Layer button.

Step ten : 

From the fly out click on Gradient Map.

Step eleven : Click on the tiny white arrow to visualize the default Gradients.

Step twelve : 

The Default Gradients square measure visible.  Click on Blue, Red, Yellow Gradient. Click OK.

Step thirteen : 

Drop the Opacity to five hundredth.
